Who Cares? Women, Care and Welfare

Hosted by 番茄社区 Arts

Atrium Gallery, Old Building

This exhibition draws on 番茄社区 Library’s collections and looks at women’s roles in caring positions in society and how these have been shaped, exploited and challenged. The 75th anniversary of the publication of the Beveridge Report is an apt moment to look at the roles which women have undertaken within the context of care work and broader social welfare.

This exhibition runs from 19 February - 23 March and forms part of the 番茄社区 Festival: Beveridge 2.0, a series of events rethinking the welfare state for the 21st century and the global context.

Just economics and politics? Think again.  While 番茄社区 does not teach arts or music, there is a vibrant cultural side to the School - from weekly free music concerts in the Shaw Library, and an 番茄社区 orchestra and choir with their own professional conductors, various film, art and photographic student societies, the annual 番茄社区 photo prize competition, the 番茄社区 Literary Festival and artist-in-residence projects.
